On 26th July 2013, Yaping Ruan, a student of the School of Physics, University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), gave an invited report entitled “Modification of the temperature of trapped cold 87Rb atoms by an ionizing process” on the 28th ICPEAC (International Photonic, Electronic and Atomic Collision Conference).

The ICPEAC is one of the most influential academic conferences on atomic and molecular physics in the world and is held biennially to promote the growth and exchange of scientific information in the area of collisions involving photons, electrons, ions, atoms, molecules, clusters, surfaces, and exotic particles. The 28th conference was organized by the Institue of Modern Physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and held in Lanzhou from 24th July to 30th July in this year. The total number of the representatives is more than 500 from 40 countries and regions. About 90 experts and scholars including young students were invited to give oral reports, which including 8 Chinese scholars form Peking University, Nanjing University, Fudan University, Lanzhou University, Institute of Modern Physics(IMP) of CAS, Wuhan Institute of Physics and Mathematics (WIPM) of CAS and University of CAS(UCAS). This shows that the School of Physics of UCAS has made an important progess on the area of cold collision, and earns the recognition of the international peers. Four people of School of Physics of UCAS attended this conference and gave three reports including an oral report and two posters. They made a contribution to the popularity of University of Chinese Academy of Science during the activity discussion with internal and international peers.

The 29th ICPEAC will be held in Toledo (Spain),during July 22 – 28, 2015.
